I am still waiting for a reply from you, I see your Citroen addvertised here, and would like to know the price!!!
I do not know Thai language, so can't read what you say about the car, or the price, so can you please tell me, in english, how much you want for your car, and tell me the mechanical condition of it. I am interested to buy a Citroen CX in good condition.

Thanks for your help, I have actually found a CX for sale in Laos, and may purchase it, I am happy with the LHD and can't see a problem with it being licensed in Laos, in fact I've seen some other makes of cars here in Thailand with Loas license plates, so imagine that it is easy to have a Laos registered car here, and with the ASEAN treaties with these neighboring countries I can't see a problem, but will check on that before I make a purchase.
I have had both LHD and RHD Citroens in Australia and like both versions.
I will also keep exploring other avenues, as I am very keen to have one of these amazing cars.
Thanks once again for your advice..

I'm glad to know that you've finally found a car, especially it's LHD and in Laos, so we are gonna have one more CX's fan in the club.
It amazes me somewhat that there's still a CX in Laos.
Well, after the car is purchased, I would love you to show some of its photos to see how charming the car is. For me CXs are beautiful forever and for always. LoL..
God bless all Citroens

I have found some info for bringing a car to Thailand, and it seems that I have to pay an enormous amount of duty, nearly 100 % of the value of the car !!
I have never heard of such a thing before, in Australia you pay 12.5% tax for a new foreign car, and about half that for a used car, I had no idea tax was so high here.
It seems the ASEAN free trade agreement does not apply to cars.
And it is almost impossible to drive a Laos licensed car in Thailand for more than 1 month at a time, without taking it out of Thailand, and back in again, so now I will have to think of something else..
Jan 8 2008, 03:51 AM
It certainly is , Automobile taxation in Thailand seems like a big ploblem for all owners to move their vehicles from another country into thailand because of its internal law ( Goverment income), i guess.
Many documents are required, big amount of cash prepared, at the end you will give up doing that.
For example : The C 4 in England is about 600,000 baht , the taxation will double increase up to 200 % add transportation, income , etc . And it become 1.5- 1.8 million baht.
What a car! .

Wishes of health, happiness and a wonderful new year.
Aaron , Which part of Australia do you live ? My sister's family has just moved to Brisbane a few days ago. It is summer there.
Jan 9 2008, 06:59 PM
Yes, I do feel a bit dissapointed that I could not get the nice LHD CX from Laos, and I have to admit, I do like the LHD versions, I had one in Australia for about 5 years, I like the novelty of having the steering opposite to most cars.
I have now looked into, and found out more about the tax here, it sure is very high, the Chevrolet Lumina sold here is an aussie made Holden Commodore, and it is almost exactly double the aussie price, and they don't even offer the V8 engine, only the V6, and the dealer told me that before the Free Trade Agreement with Australia, the price here was 3 times the aussie price !!!
This must make buying hard here, especially for the poor farming people, when a car like the Commodore gets about 6, 7, 8 years old, they would only cost about the equivalent of 100,000 baht, and with aussie pay scales, are very affordable.
But the little
s most people have here are much cheaper than what a motorbike bike costs in Oz.
I used to live in Sydney, N.S.W. and yes it is summer all over OZ, but there are now big bush fires in lower N.S.W. and Victoria, and floods near the N.S.W. border and Queensland, it can be like that at times. The good thing for your sister is that Brisbane / Queensland weather is a bit like Thailand, often hot and sweaty !!
Sydney summers are hot, but it is a dry heat mostly, and easier to handle.
I have seen a CX in the north of Bkk / Prachinburi area, that has a Toyota engine, and different headlights and tail lights, which actually look quite good, not a messy conversion, but quite well made custom job, and as much as I don't like changes to a car, this one is quite appealing to me, pity the driver could not speak much english.
Oh well, I will just keep looking around, I am not really in a hurry, if something comes along I like, I will be happy.
Thanks for all your replies..

Sorry, forgot to add, hope you have a happy and healthy new year too..

Thanks for the message, I do not have a CX 2400 yet, but I would be interested in seeing pictures of your car.
Can you also tell me the history, how many owners, service and accident history, actual year of manufacture, milage, rust, and engine condition, and the reason you are selling, and price.
Thank you for that.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
